Downloading files using FTP
If you have problems downloading files from this Web site with your browser, you can try to download them from the INRO FTP site. If you encounter problems downloading files from the INRO FTP site, contact Technical Support.

Using a browser:
To access the INRO FTP site from your browser, enter the following URL:

    ftp://ftp.inro.ca

Then click on the appropriate folder icon(s) (see Location of files). To download a file, right-click on the selected file, select the Save Link As option and enter the destination directory in which to save the file.

Using an FTP utility:
To access the INRO FTP site using an FTP utility, enter the following command at the operating system prompt:
    prompt>ftp ftp.inro.ca
Then enter anonymous as a user name, and your e-mail address as password.

To download a file:

  Example
  • set the transfer type to binary using the bin command
ftp>bin
  • change to the appropriate directory using the cd command
ftp>cd /share/macros
  • download the selected file using the
    get filename command
ftp>get rotatexy.mac
Once the file transfer is complete, terminate the FTP session using the bye command.

Location of files:
The files that can be downloaded from the INRO FTP site are located in different subdirectories of the public directory.

  • Macros:
    Macros are located in the /share/macros directory.
  • Scripts:
    AWK scripts are in the /share/scripts/awk directory.
  • Utilities:
    GPL and GPR format files, EMTOOLWN updates and other useful binaries are in the /share/utilities directory.
The archive file all.zip, which contains the files in the directories listed above is in the /share directory.
Links to public domain utilities
You can obtain the following public domain and "copylefted" utilities (see below for the definition of a copylefted program) from other FTP sites. These utilities may be used in conjunction with the Emme or the STAN packages.

UNZIP: a decompression utility (this is a PKZIP compatible public domain utility from Info-ZIP). It is free and can be obtained as source code or executables from various bulletin board services and anonymous FTP sites accessible from the following Web site:
